The Alvord Meteorite! Yes it is true! From the farm fields of Lyon County to the Smithsonian Institute! We got a closer look at it this summer while visiting Washington DC. This "rock"was found in a farmer's field near Alvord in 1976!

Joel remembers our classmate bringing this little "rock" to school in gradeschool for "show and tell"...and now it is securely housed in the Smithosian Institute of Natural History!

Makes you wonder how many treasures we miss each day...we may see those around us as insignificant "rocks" and we don't grasp how important family and friends are...hopefully we can realize to appreciate them each day and remember to never overlook those treasures surrounding us! I treasure you!
